Safety Surfacing

Safety Area

We recommend that the play area extend to 2m beyond the perimeter of the play set in all directions. You can use some discretion; you will need the full 2m at the bottom of the slide, but you may not need it against the back of a tower. We are happy to advise on this and can often arrange a site survey or visit prior to you Backyard Adventures play set order from www.childsplayspain.com

Surfaces for Play Equipment
For residential use, garden play equipment can be constructed on:
• Grass
• Bark Chipping
• Wetpour
• Rubber Matting

Play surfacing is not compulsory for garden play equipment and most people choose to build on grass. Play surfacing is becoming a popular option, and provides an amount of protection in the case of falls. It is recommended that your safety surface is added once the Play System has been installed. Backyard Adventures Play Sets being free standing are best installed on firm ground.

Bark Chipping
We recommend and can supply high quality play bark. The bark has large particle sizes that resists mulching and gives superior impact absorption with the benefit of low wood content. The exact depth to be laid depends on the material used and the critical fall height required for your chosen Play Set. As a guide, a 10cm layer protects from falls up to a height of about 2.5m.

Bark Chipping
Wetpour
Is the most expensive solution, and it needs to be laid on an existing hard level surface such as concrete. Due to the cost and time in preparation of surface it is not a preferred choice by our domestic customers. If this is your chosen surface Childsplay would need to assemble the Play System prior to the surface being laid
Wetpour
Rubber Matting
These are manufactured to EN1177 standards and come in various sizes and colours The exact depth to be laid depends on the critical fall height required for your chosen Play Set.
